Why Electric Radiant Heat?

- Comfort: Gentle, even warmth right where your feet are.
- Efficient: A typical bathroom floor uses about as much power as a few light bulbs, and only while it’s running.
- Quiet and clean: No fans, no ducts, no dust.
- Smart control: Programmable thermostats warm the floor before you wake up.
How It Works: The Electric Blanket Effect
Every system works like an electric blanket for your floor: a grid of heating cable that spreads warmth evenly under the finish.
On many projects we recommend a Schluter Ditra-Heat or NuHeat mat system:
- The tech: A membrane or mat with the heating cable built in or clipped into place.
- The install: Bonded to the subfloor with thinset, then tiled over.
- Durability: Once it’s in, it’s a rock-solid part of your floor.
- Testing: We test the cable before, during and after tiling so there are no surprises.
Planning Your Layout: Heat Where You Stand
- Standard mats: For simple, rectangular rooms, an off-the-shelf mat is usually the most cost-effective choice.
- Custom fits: For complex shapes, we can order a custom layout with a drawing showing where the cable, power feed and thermostat sensor go.
- Thermostat placement: Usually by the door, on its own GFCI-protected circuit.
The Remodel Secret: No Need to Rip Everything Out
Renovating an older home? You may not have to tear the floor down to the subfloor. In many cases we can install over a properly prepared existing floor, saving you mess, time and money.
If you’re tired of stepping onto cold tile every morning, let’s talk about adding radiant heat to your next project. It’s an upgrade you’ll appreciate every single day.

Electric Floor Heating FAQ
Can electric in-floor heating be repaired?
Often, yes. If the heating cable is damaged, the break can sometimes be located and repaired without lifting the whole floor. Thermostat, sensor and wiring faults are usually quicker fixes.
Why does my floor heating thermostat keep tripping?
Most floor heating thermostats have a built-in ground fault (GFCI) sensor. If it keeps tripping, there may be moisture in the connection or damage to the cable, so leave it off and have it tested by an electrician.
Do you repair in-floor heating in Calgary?
Yes. We repair electric and hydronic in-floor heating across Calgary, from thermostats and sensors to cables, boilers and zone valves. Call or text 403-619-2856.
Is electric floor heating expensive to run?
For a bathroom or small kitchen it usually costs little to run, especially with a programmable or smart thermostat that only heats the floor when you're home and awake.
